A.P.A.S.L.A.

It is not unusual in situations of rare and debilitating diseases to be unable to find support outside of family or close friends. Or sometimes one doesn’t have the economic possibilities to access specialized resources. It is in this context that APA SLA intervenes, offering mutual support in very delicate cases. The Piedmonts’ Association for Assistance to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (APASLA) was founded in 1996 as the Piedmonts’ regional section of AISLA and has carried out, or is carrying out, with the contributions of institutions and individuals, various initiatives, including:

the purchase of equipment and instrumentation;
a clinic of psychological assistance for patients and their families;
specialized medical and psychological assistance at home;
the formation of an interdisciplinary medical group;
meetings of patients and families with medical and paramedical specialists on the various aspects of the disease;
training courses for volunteers willing to collaborate with families;
funding for research projects.

They are there, and so are we.
